High pressure biodiesel injection: the first steps
In the mean time, our Yanmar engine is equipped with sensors for engine speed and piston position detection. We chose for an electromagnetic injector.
Our electronic injection controller will be developed in cooperation with the company Car Tuning Development, who has the experience with rally cars.
When all components are built in, we will start the new year 2008 with tuning of our biodiesel engine!

Our plans with the Yanmar engine
The new Energy 5 will be equipped with a Biodiesel Yanmar 211 cc engine. The original engine is working completely mechanically, without electronics nor sensors. This academic year, it is our goal to equip the engine with modern concepts.
Gerald Bauwens en Pieter Bekaert, final grade students industrial engineering electromechanics will develop an electronically controlled high pressure Biodiesel injection system.
Later on, we will link the engine controller with our on-board data acquisition system, to fully monitor the car's fuel consumption.
